*Southwest Airlines has built a reputation as a low-cost air carrier with friendly flight attendants and great customer service. But extreme weather conditions across the country over the Christmas holidays caused Southwest Airlines to have a transportation meltdown.

It was supposed to be the busiest week and potentially one of the most lucrative quarters in the airline industry. Now SWA is trying to recover from the debacle.
