Disney Postpones Jonathan Majors’ ‘Magazine Dreams’ Indefinitely

*Jonathan Majors’ acclaim drama “Magazine Dreams” has been postponed indefinitely following the guilty verdict in his domestic violence trial this week. 

Disney has pulled the title from the release schedule after it was initially scheduled for a Dec. 4 release. Directed by Elijah Bynum, “Magazine Dreams” won the U.S. Special Dramatic Jury Award and the audience’s hearts at Sundance in January.

Majors received glowing praise for his “powerhouse” performance as Killian Maddox, a troubled man who dreams of bodybuilding superstardom. 

Here is the Sundance Film Festival synopsis of the film: “Killian Maddox lives with his ailing veteran grandfather, obsessively working out between court-mandated therapy appointments and part-time shifts at a grocery store where he harbors a crush on a friendly cashier.”

The description continues, “Though Killian’s struggles to read social cues and maintain control of his volatile temper amplify his sense of disconnection amid a hostile world, nothing deters him from his fiercely protected dream of bodybuilding superstardom, not even the doctors who warn that he’s causing permanent damage to his body with his quest.”

I do, on occasion, think of the Magazine Dreams writer-director Elijah Bynum & how it’s never seeing the light of day & wonder how that has affected his career trajectory being tied to Jonathan Majors as it was the next big film starring him. Like I’d be cussing him out, idk.

In related news, Marvel dropped the “Creed III” star from the MCU as Kang the Conqueror after he was found guilty Monday of assault and harassment involving his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.

We previously reported that Majors appeared as the supervillain in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” in Feb. 2023 and the “Loki” series on Disney+.

He was also set to play Kang in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” slated to premiere in 2026.

Now, however, because he was found guilty of assault and harassment of his ex-girlfriend during a domestic dispute, he’s been fired by Disney/Marvel.
