A Capella Group Pentatonix Honored with Hollywood Walk of Fame Star | WATCH

*Here’s something different as far as stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame are concerned. We’re talking about an a capella group being the first of its kind to ever be honored with a star.

It happened on Tuesday when three-time Grammy winner Pentatonix was shown love on Hollywood Boulevard near The Hollywood Roosevelt hotel.

The star is located between those of singer Etta James and composer Cole Porter. It is the 2,748th star since the completion of the Walk of Fame in 1961 with an initial 1,558 stars.

Pentatonix has its origins in the attempt by three students at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas — Kirstin Maldonado, Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying — to win a local radio show competition to meet the cast of “Glee” in 2010. They submitted a trio version of “Telephone,” the 2009 song by Lady Gaga that featured Beyoncé. While they did not win, their version of “Telephone” gained attention on YouTube.
