*The morale at MSNBC is said to be exceptionally low after Tiffany Cross’ ouster.

“People are scared. The consensus is that [MSNBC president Rashida Jones] is trying to unmake MSNBC and change it into something the right won’t be mad at. What about our core audience?” one insider explained as reported by Page Six.

Cross was canned after calling out white supremacy and slamming Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis during her appearance on “Hell of Week With Charlemagne” on Comedy Central.

We reported previously via Variety, citing MSNBC sources, that Cross’ relationship with the network had “becoming frayed” as executives grew “concerned about the anchor’s willingness to address statements made by cable-news hosts on other networks and indulging in commentary executives felt did not meet the standards of MSNBC or NBC News,” reports Forbes.

When she learned the network was going to part ways with her, Cross allegedly set out to take down MSNBC president Rashida Jones, who handpicked Cross to host a weekend show.

“She made calls saying, ‘I’m going out in a blaze and I’m taking down the network and going after Rashida,’” said a source close to the situation, per New York Post. The outlet writes, “It is unclear how Cross knew of her looming dismissal, but insiders speculated that her agent had been given the news while trying to negotiate a new contract for his client.”

According to Page Six, multiple sources claim that when Jones took over in 2021, “she had meetings saying she wanted no snark, no name calling. She seemed particularly disturbed by anyone who said anything negative about Fox News,” the insider added.

Another insider at NBC explained that under jones, MSNBC, “like CNN, trying to go straight down the middle seems to be what the appetite is. The MSNBC identity is being taken away.”

“The trend right now is everybody’s kind of leaning towards less divisive,” the source added.

One insider said, “What was so vulgar when there are people like [MSNBC] talent Nicole Wallace and Joe Scarborough who swear on TV? What was the emergency that required her to be fired before her contract was up at the end of the year?”

According to the reports, liberals staffers are starting to “feel targeted and there’s no protection from the bosses.”

“It’s like Rashida doesn’t like MSNBC. No one knows what her vision is. She has none,” an insider said. “She’s a [former NBC News chairman] Andy Lack crony who’s obsessed with flyover states and getting Fox News’ core audience. They’re not watching [MSNBC].”
