Filming of Keyshia Cole’s Biopic is Under Way in Oakland | VIDEO

*A Lifetime movie about singer Keyshia Cole is finally in the offing. In fact,  filming is already underway, according to the sources that leaked the information. Check out video from the set with Keyshia, above.

Back in March, the Grammy-nominated Oakland native said in an interview that the timing for her biopic was right this time.

“There’s so much that I still want to do,” she mused. “I want to do this movie on my life. It has been brought up [but] there were certain things I didn’t like, so we just didn’t do it.

Keyshia Cole began her music career as a background vocalist for MC Hammer. She later landed her own record deal.

She dropped her debut studio album, “The Way It Is,” in 2005. Some of the hits included “Love,” “I Should’ve Cheated,” and “I Changed My Mind.”

A BET reality show named after the album scored high ratings for the network and ran from 2006-2008.

Cole, a mother of two, announced in 2021 that she plans to retire from the music industry. But she still has one more album coming. She says it’s her last stand.

“For a second, I told myself I just [wasn’t] going to do music anymore,” shared Cole.

“But that was before my mom passed and then a lot more happened,” Cole, whose mother, Frankie Lons, and father, Leon Cole Jr., passed within months of each other late last year, explained to Essence. “I had already signed my deal that I have in place, so I have to fulfill that obligation. But not only that, after my mother passed it put a bunch of other things into perspective for me. So I decided to finish my obligation, to release this last album—the last one I plan to put out.”
