Uber Customer No Longer CEO of Company He Founded After Calling Black Driver the N-word

*Well now, we just discovered a new way to kiss your career goodbye. All you gotta do is emulate Hans Berglund, the founder of an Arizona fertilizer company.

Berglund is also now the FORMER CEO of an Arizona fertilizer company because he called a black Uber driver the N-word and was subsequently relieved of his position, Phoenix ABC affiliate KNXV-TV reported.

The story goes that Berglund, 73, who founded AgroPlasma, an organic fertilizer company based in Tempe, needed a ride home on Jan. 31, according to KNXV. That’s when Randy Clarke, a 25-year-old Arizona State student and Uber driver, arrived to pick him up.

Berglund and Clarke immediately got into an argument over whether Berglund could sit in the front seat, according to KNXV. Clarke said he tries to avoid having any passengers in the front seat after he was sexually assaulted in 2018. His car has multiple signs asking passengers to sit in the back.

The argument — captured on video — continued as Berglund moved to the back seat, at which point Clarke asked him to leave the vehicle, according to KNXV. Berglund then asked, “Is it because I’m white?”

Clarke shook his head, saying, “No sir, it’s not because you’re white.”

Berglund fired back, “You’re a f—— n—–.”

Clarke decided to take the high road, but said, “Oh this is good” letting Berglund that he’d just been caught on camera. At that point, Berglund left the car.

Clarke told KNXV that he’d installed two cameras after the 2018 assault.

Meanwhile, in a statement to KNXV, an AgroPlasma spokesperson said that Berglund had been removed as CEO and that the company would investigate the incident. Berglund has since apologized.

Clarke, who boasts a nearly spotless rating from the car company has been driving with Uber for four years. Berglund, on the other hand had his account put on hold by Uber.
