*Famed OJ Simpson prosecutor Christopher Darden is the defense attorney for one of the two males charged with the murder of rapper Pop Smoke.Â
Two of Pop Smoke’s alleged murderers, Corey Walker and Keandre Rodgers, attended a pretrial hearing for their case on Monday. Darden, who is resenting Walker, was not at the hearing but sent another attorney to appear on his behalf. Attorneys questioned if Rodgers’ case should be moved to juvenile because of his age, per Complex.Â
Darden briefly represented Eric Holder, the man accused of killing Nipsey Hussle, but dropped the case after he and his family received death threats.Â
As was previously reported, Pop Smoke was shot and killed by 4 masked gunmen back in February. Initially, it appeared to be a home invasion robbery at a rental pad in the Hollywood Hills. However, it was later reported that it was a targeted attack.

At the time, police were unable to identify the suspects who committed the crime and only shared little details. Following months with no news on the case, TMZ has finally provided an update.
Law enforcement sources say that LAPD served multiple search warrants around Los Angeles last month, and 5 people were arrested on warrants in connection to the rapper’s murder. 3 adults and 2 juveniles were taken into custody.
During Monday’s hearing, Walker and Rogers did not enter guilty pleas, as Rodger’s birthday was the main focus. Â
The district attorney noted that his rap sheet includes three different birthdays—and the judge wants Rodgers’ attorney to provide proof of his client’s age to determine if he will face trial as a minor or adult. The attorneys reportedly have two days to resolve the issue.Â
Preliminary hearings are set to continue on August 26.
