Soul Singer GwenYvette Releases New Single ‘So in Love’

*Beaufort, S.C. – Soul music singer GwenYvette is celebrating the recent release of her debut single, “So In Love.” The song is the first installment from her forthcoming album “Dreams and Visions” due later this year, and is now available on iTunes, CD Baby and amazon.com.

The St. Helena Island product first entered the music scene as a teenager in the early 90’s, singing for a local band and later touring with well-known artists like Roy C and Kenny Lattimore. Since 2012, the songstress has had a successful run on a national show – FOX’s “The X Factor,” where she qualified for the Hollywood round. She also has a funk and soul band, named for her father, called T.C. Soul Playas.

While GwenYvette has experienced success in the spotlight, her path to becoming a professional singer was far from easy. A survivor of depression in years past, the divorcee endured personal heartbreak and also faced constant rejection from industry executives who said she did not have “the look” for showbiz. Still, GwenYvette’s fortitude, faith and love for music empowered her to chart her own course as an independent artist. Now, with her first single, she is excited to share aspects of her journey – both good and bad – while letting her voice do the talking.

“‘So In Love’ is really about the relationship that I’ve always longed for. That all-in-one kinda love,” GwenYvette said. “I am a bit of a hopeless romantic. I love the idea of being in love, to love and be loved. All of my music is about my own experiences, something I have been through, or something that I have thought a lot about. I wanted to give that piece of me to my listeners.”

2016 is projected to be a very busy year for the vocalist, as she will begin touring to different cities to perform in preparation for her album release. In addition, she is a host of her own radio show, “The Afternoon Glide with GwenYvette,” which can be heard on WKWQ 100.7 FM in Beaufort, S.C. (or live streamed via tune-in app, search GGRN).

Overall, GwenYvette is committed to leading a resurgence of R&B/Soul music, which has become a lost art in this generation, overshadowed by the throng of up-tempo rap and pop music. She also desires to help people through the low moments in their lives, encouraging them to look ahead to better days.

“I want my music to be transparent where people get a true feeling of who I am as a person and as an artist,” she said. “I want them to think ‘yea I feel her and I feel what she is saying.’ That connection is what soul music is about.”
