*On the 4th of July, Brown on Black racism is rearing its ugly head in Compton, according to civil rights activist Najee Ali who plans to do something about.

Ali, the director of Project Islamic, a leading civil rights organization and a coalition of Compton residents and community organizations are calling for the immediate resignation of Compton City Council member Issac Galvan for using racial and homophobic slurs against his African-American colleagues and other African-American elected officials.

In an email to the Electronic Urban Report/EUR, Ali says that in a recently held conversation with other Latino elected officials including Carson Mayor Albert Robles and Central Basin water director Leticia Vasquez, councilmember Galvan referred to Compton Mayor Aja Brown as a “Nigger” and his African-American colleagues on the Compton City Council as monkeys. He then proceeded to call State Sen. Isadore Hall a gay slur.

“This type of racist and homophobic language directed at Mayor Brown, Sen Hall and the rest of the African-American Compton City Councilmembers by Councilmember Galvan who Is Latino is outrageous and demeaning. For Galvan to use the N-word in describing Mayor Brown … [it] will not be tolerated.

“We’re calling for the immediate resignation of Galvan. He’s demonstrated he’s unfit to serve Compton residents. I personally met with Letecia Vasquez at her request last Friday and she confirmed Galvan made these comments in front of her and several other Latino elected officials and civic leaders
