*Starz has announced the cancellation of its crime drama “BMF” following four seasons on the network. The final season premiered in June and wrapped with its tenth episode, “Dreams Deferred,” on August 15.
The series, inspired by the real-life Black Mafia Family, chronicles the lives of founders Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, with Big Meech portrayed by his real-life son. While a fifth season had been considered earlier this year, Starz decided to end the series amid broader strategic changes, including plans to develop new shows and manage rising production costs.
Despite on-set tensions—stemming in part from a public feud between executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Big Meech over past allegations and promotional appearances—the dispute was not cited as a reason for the show’s cancellation.

Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch had previously indicated a shift in focus toward new content, favoring fresh series over sustaining long-running shows as costs increased. While “BMF” ends, Jackson’s collaboration with Starz continues through the Power franchise. Additionally, the companion docuseries, “The BMF Documentary: Blowing Money Fast,” is set for a second season, though a premiere date has not been announced.
Season 4 of “BMF” followed the Flenory brothers as they navigated law enforcement pressure, internal conflicts, and rivalries, continuing their fight to preserve the American Dream. The ensemble cast included Russell Hornsby, Michole Briana White, La La Anthony, Steve Harris, and Myles Truitt.
