*Epic Pictures has dropped the adrenaline-charged trailer for “Stand Your Ground,” an action-packed revenge thriller slated for a theatrical release on May 9 (Tickets available via AMC Theatres), with digital and on-demand availability following on May 27. Directed by Swedish filmmaker Fansu Njie, the film marks his second collaboration with action star Daniel Stisen, following the success of their Netflix hit Last Man Down.
“Stand Your Ground” follows Jack Johnson (Stisen), a former Special Forces operative seeking peace in small-town America with his pregnant wife (Roxi Kravitz). But when a violent attack orchestrated by crime lord Bastion (played by Fargo’s Peter Stormare) leads to her brutal death, Jack’s life is shattered. In a moment of rage, he kills one of the attackers, only to be imprisoned for six years.
Upon his release, Jack learns the assailants were Bastion’s sons. Armed with fury and the controversial Stand Your Ground law, Jack targets Bastion’s eldest son, Leon (Michael Billington), and lures him into a trap that leaves him in a coma. Bastion responds by unleashing a team of assassins, turning Jack’s home into a battleground. The escalating violence forces Bastion’s daughter Molly (Isobel Laidler) and Sheriff Dwayne (Patrick Regis) to confront the crime boss and his reign of terror.
Njie describes the film as “a brutal crime the system won’t touch—and escalates from 0 to 100, ending in a full-blown war no one sees coming.”

Stisen adds, “It’s a classic American revenge action film grounded in the Stand Your Ground laws — about defending your family, your home, and your freedom from a crime lord, sparking an all-out war. I had a really fun time working with the stunt team making the action scenes, which is always fun. It makes me feel like a young boy again.”
