*Shamari Fears DeVoe, a former cast member of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” has found herself at the center of online controversy after a series of social media posts about her nursing journey caught the attention of healthcare professionals.
The ex-Blaque singer and wife of New Edition’s Ronnie DeVoe appeared in a video dressed in scrubs, beaming as she headed into what she described as a major new chapter. “I am going to my first day of orientation,” she said, SandraRose.com reports. “I feel really great… Things are looking up. Got a job at a hospital as a nurse extern.”
Her Instagram activity painted an ambitious picture of where she believed her career was headed. “Not just starting a job, I’m building a legacy. First day of externship. Summer 2026 MSN on the way. #DeVoeTed #ShamariDeVoe #MSNLoading,” she wrote in one post. Months earlier, she had teased the same trajectory with the caption, “Grinding privately, glowing publicly. Nursing school in progress. Master’s in motion. Countdown to graduation officially on.”

Those following her journey on X were unconvinced, particularly those with firsthand knowledge of how long advanced nursing programs actually take. X user Yogiflowz wrote, “Lmaoooooo. A masters in nursing is a 6-year degree. Not one you graduate from this summer and it’s February. Looooooool. I should know. I’m an OR nurse with a masters in nursing. She can be a CNA by this summer though. That’s a 3-5 month certificate.”
Observers also pointed out that DeVoe had only recently finished a CNA certificate program, making the MSN claim difficult to reconcile.

Essence magazine spotlighted a February 4th video in which DeVoe reflected on her time doing clinicals at a nursing home during CNA training. The publication noted that during one session, she encountered difficulty using a blood pressure machine on a patient before eventually working through it.
Given that her most recent hands-on training was at the CNA level, the gap between where she currently stands academically and a graduate nursing degree remains a question her followers are still waiting to have answered.
