*Las Vegas is seeing a wave of music residencies come to an end, as legendary performers close shows to make way for new acts on the Strip. Among the most recent is rock icon Ringo Starr, who finished his six-night run at The Venetian Theater on September 27. The residency, featuring Starr’s All Starr Band, followed a similar six-show engagement at the venue earlier this year in May and June.
As The Street reports, Starr’s All Starr Band currently features Colin Hay of Men at Work, Steve Lukather and Warren Ham of Toto, Hamish Stuart of Average White Band, drummer Gregg Bissonette, and keyboardist Buck Johnson. The lineup backed the Beatles drummer through a mix of his classic hits and fan favorites. According to a review of the September 24 set list, Starr performed “Yellow Submarine,” “With a Little Help From My Friends,” “I Wanna Be Your Man,” along with his solo numbers “It Don’t Come Easy,” “Photograph,” and “No No Song.”
Each All Starr Band member also brought songs from their own careers to the stage. Hay delivered Men at Work’s “Down Under,” “Who Could It Be Now?” and “Overkill.” Lukather and Ham performed Toto’s “Hold the Line,” “Rosana,” and “Africa.” Stuart added Average White Band’s “Pick Up the Pieces” and “Cut the Cake.”

The closing of Starr’s residency follows several other high-profile finales on the Strip. Janet Jackson ended her 22-show run at Resorts World Las Vegas on September 20, while Lenny Kravitz completed his “Blue Electric Light Las Vegas” residency at Park MGM’s Dolby Live on August 9.
