*O.J. Simpson’s estate is in a very broke state, according to his executor. TMZ reports that Simpson’s longtime lawyer turned guy running things with the late football star’s probate estate Malcolm LaVergne is out to scrape up as much money as he can to pay off debts Simpson has since his death last April.
Chatting with the outlet, LaVergne revealed he is trying to bring in more than $269,000 from one of Simpson’s homes. The kicker, LaVergne said, is he might have to go O.J.’s son, Justin Ryan Simpson, to get the money.
Justin — whose mother was Nicole Brown Simpson — helped his controversial father buy his “forever” home in Las Vegas a couple of years ago, LaVergne added. As it stands now, the estate wants to recoup the funds O.J. put into the residence, which LaVergne has fixed at around $159,000.
With Simpson’s home now valued over $100,000 more than when it was bought in 2022, LaVergne’s stance is that the equity and the amount O.J. put into the home belong to his estate.
Considering O.J.’s other debts and creditors of the estate, TMZ notes the $269,000 wanted for the former sports fixture’s abode is “just a drop in the bucket”

Highlighting the string of debts, the news outlet mentioned the $33.5 million O.J. owed to his victim’s family after a judge in his favor in the infamous 1997 wrongful death lawsuit that dominated headlines at the time.
Although O.J. was acquitted in his murder trial, he was found liable for the deaths of Nicole and Ron Goldman in a Santa Monica civil court. The judgment, which was originally $33.5 million, has reportedly risen to around $100,000 million due to interest on the unpaid debt.
Overall, LaVergne stated Simpson’s estate is virtually worthless at this point. As a result, the executor is doing everything he can to find any sources of revenue to fund the Simpson estate and help settle debts with creditors like the IRS, the California Tax Board, and the Goldman family.
Despite the situation, LaVergne may have one ace in the hole…if he can find it. That ace-in-question would be O.J.’s Pro Football Hall of Fame ring. That item, along with a fancy Rolex O.J. had, has been missing since his client passed away. Add in LaVergne seeking permission to sell a few of O.J.’s belongings at auction to raise money for the estate and the situation clearly reeks of desperation.
“It belongs to the estate and I want it placed at my feet,” a clearly irritated LaVergne voiced to TMZ about the ring’s M.I.A. status.
