*O.J. Simpson’s estate has formally accepted a multimillion-dollar claim from Fred Goldman, marking a significant step toward resolving the long-standing debt from Simpson’s 1997 civil judgment.
According to TMZ, estate executor Malcolm LaVergne filed documents approving Goldman’s creditor claim for $57,997,858.12, plus judgment interest. LaVergne told the outlet that the approved amount was negotiated with Goldman and that the estate intends to pay as much as possible through ongoing auctions of Simpson’s assets. Some items, he noted, may have been stolen, and he’s working with attorneys to recover them.
A representative for the Goldman family emphasized that the claim’s acceptance is procedural. “The Executor’s acceptance of the claim is a positive acknowledgement of the debt; however, it does not constitute payment. This acceptance simply allows the administration of the claim to move forward in probate. We will continue to monitor the probate process as it progresses.”

“I can tell you in advance, Fred Goldman’s claim will be accepted. And his claim will be handled in accordance with Nevada law,” LaVergne, who has represented Simpson since 2009, told THR.
Simpson was acquitted in 1995 of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, Fred’s son. The pair were fatally stabbed outside Nicole’s home in the affluent Brentwood area of Los Angeles in June 1994. Simpson was found liable in a civil suit brought by the victims’ families, but reportedly only paid a fraction of the $33.5 million judgment.
LaVergne previously told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he opposed Goldman’s family obtaining funds from the estate, but later reversed course and agreed to honor their claim.
