*Lil Wayne recently clarified that he has no hard feelings about Kendrick Lamar performing at the Super Bowl LIX.
According to Vibe, when the rapper appeared on The Skip Bayless Show on December 16, he reflected on being overlooked for the halftime show in New Orleans. The hip-hop star previously expressed frustration about not being chosen but has since made peace with the decision.
“For whatever reason, I believe it’s over my head. I don’t know why, period. Obviously I believe that it’s perfect…I do not know why,” he told Skip. “I’ve spoken to [Kendrick], and I wish him all the best and I told him he better kill it.”
The Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans will go down on February 9, 2025. Master P was among Weezy’s fellow artists who noted that a local artist should have been the headliner for the show. In a statement shared on social media, he wrote, “Salute to @kendricklamar for performing at the halftime show at Super Bowl LIX… well deserved, he’s one of the hottest music artists in the world and has one of the biggest songs right now,” Master P wrote on Instagram, All Hip Hop reports.
“As Ambassador of Entertainment in the City of New Orleans, I have to agree with the fans that @liltunechi #LilWayne should be a part of this celebration as well. He’s one of the greatest Hip Hop artists alive, still relevant, and he’s a New Orleans native,” Master P added.

Lil Wayne’s engineer and producer Fabian Marasciullo also took to his Instagram Story on September 8 to react to Kendrick’s halftime show performance.
“Confused. Disappointed. Angry. But most of all. Inspired,” he wrote, prompting speculation that he was talking about the NFL picking Kendrick instead of Weezy.
Wayne said being overlooked for the Halftime Show has motivated him to work harder.
“The person I am? I straight look at it like, ‘you ain’t there, you gotta get there.’ There’s things I can’t control. I want to get to the point where I’m undeniable. I want them to walk in there and have 10 other choices and whoever’s in charge says, ‘No, you have to go with him!’”
