*Julian Horton is not interested in overnight success stories. His journey, like the layered world of “Beauty in Black,” is built on complexity, setbacks, and a relentless internal drive that goes deeper than the surface.
Best known for his portrayal of Roy Bellarie, a troubled heir navigating power, addiction, and ego within a wealthy family empire, Horton has emerged as one of the standout faces in Tyler Perry’s Netflix universe.
But long before stepping into that high-stakes drama, Horton was chasing a different kind of dream.
Born in Philadelphia and raised in Atlanta, he built his early identity through sports, playing wide receiver at the University of Arkansas and briefly pursuing the NFL before pivoting to acting.
That pivot required more than talent. It required a shift in mindset.
“I thought there were losses when I was younger,” Horton said. “Now I don’t see losses like that anymore. You control what you can control and leave the rest up to God.”
