*As Jamaica continues to reel from Hurricane Melissa, which is the strongest storm ever recorded to strike the Caribbean island, music icons from the island are already getting themselves ready to sing the sorrows away and help Jamaicans deal with the grief. As per Billboard, big names in the music industry, such as Sean Paul, Shaggy, Kes, and multiple others from the Caribbean, have joined hands for a star-studded concert aiming to raise relief funds.
A new release indicated the benefit concert dubbed the “Jamaica Strong” will take place Dec. 12 at UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York. UBS Arena is a significant venue for the benefit concert, given its value to New York’s Caribbean-related residents.
Other big names such as Aidonia, Chronic Law, Gramps Morgan, Inner Circle, Ky-Mani Marley, Mikey Spice, Richie Stephens, T.O.K., Teejay, and Tessanne Chin are expected to grace the occasion. Other names are yet to be confirmed, so the list will continue to grow.
Pre-sales began last Thursday (Nov. 13), and general tickets went on sale Friday (Nov. 14).

“This is more than a concert — it’s a movement,” Jammins Events organizer George Crooks said in a statement.
Hurricane Melissa left 75 dead in its wake. Jamaica, Cuba, and parts of Haiti were particularly impacted compared to other regions across the Caribbean. Stars like Spice, Beenie Man, and Shenseea have shared their personal relief efforts on social media.
Soon after the devastating landfall, Shaggy, earlier this month, spoke with Billboard, narrating the massive damage he saw as he and others tried to reach the affected people.
He said, “We got [to Jamaica] early enough to reach the people, because it took me around six hours to get from Kingston to St. Elizabeth in Black River, which is normally a two-and-a-half-hour drive at most.”
“We had to chop [tree] limbs down, move things out the way, and drive through high puddles of [runoff],” Shaggy added. “So we got there in the middle of the night. At that point, all we could do was pass water out, so we had to regroup and drive six hours back to Kingston. The next day, we went to the Junction side of St. Elizabeth, which took us four hours. The square itself was shut down. It was ground zero because it wasn’t livable anymore. Nobody could stay there.”
In 2025 alone, stars such as Buju Banton and Carimi, to Machel Montano and Beres Hammond have performed at the arena, according to Billboard.
