The massive quantity of fentanyl seized could potentially kill around 12 million people. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, as little as 2 milligrams of fentanyl can be lethal, depending on a person’s size, tolerance, and past usage. Prosecutors revealed to WAGA that Lara-Rios has connections to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, described by federal authorities as “one of the world’s most violent and prolific drug trafficking organizations.”
Lara-Rios remains detained at Gwinnett County Jail without bond, and her attorney waived a scheduled bond hearing on Friday. Additionally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a hold on her, complicating her release prospects.
