*Dawn Robinson has broken her silence on Jermaine Dupri’s recent comments after the music producer questioned her decision to live in her car.
The former En Vogue singer explained that her choice to live in her car was well thought out, involving thorough research into alternative lifestyles before making her decision. As we reported earlier, Dupri was left stunned after Robinson revealed that she has been living in her car for the past three years. Dupri is now questioning her financial situation after she mentioned having an assistant.
“Having an assistant is not something you should even think about if you don’t have no money,” Dupri stated during an Instagram Live chat with his followers Wednesday (March 12), Vibe reports.
“I’m bringing this up because Dawn, when she was telling the story…about her living in her car for the last three years, she said, ‘I was telling my assistant,’ and when she said that, I said, ‘Oh sh*t, wait a minute’…it changed my whole vibe of what I was watching. Because, ain’t no goddamn way she got an assistant and she ain’t got no money. Ain’t no way!”
Dupri added, “I’m just trying to make sure people are paying attention to the whole scope of this story…she got an assistant? I don’t know if she broke. She might not have all the money that she want in the world, but she’s definitely not broke saying she got an assistant.”

Reacting to his remarks, Robinson said, “For that comment, I was like first of all I’ve only met him once in my life. I remember being around, but not directly meeting him. I was shocked,” she admitted during an interview on Way Up With Angela Yee, per The Shade Room.
“Artist to artist…we don’t attack each other like that,” Dawn continued. “You would swear that he knows me directly, and he knows my story. It’s like where are you coming from? But it was a shock, and some people just have to be negative and he doesn’t know my story so he’s assuming. Instead of reaching out to me directly…”
Robinson also addressed criticism about her appearance, including comments on her well-maintained nails and Dupri’s surprise over her having an assistant despite her living situation. Watch what she had to say in the clip below.
