*Brittany Renner has dismissed her California child support proceedings against PJ Washington, the NBA player with whom she shares a son. The social media personality revealed this decision on “Facets of Life with Brittany Renner,” her podcast where she sat down with current partner Rashad Scroggins, Complex reports.
Despite Washington’s recent nine-figure deal with the Dallas Mavericks worth $90 million through 2030, Renner chose to terminate the case voluntarily. “At my request, my ongoing child support case in California has been dismissed. I don’t know many ‘gold diggers’ who would willingly walk away from the opportunity to take a bitter BD (especially one who just signed for $90M) to the cleaners. But then again, this ain’t that and that ain’t this!” she wrote, adding, “Moving to Atlanta was choosing to be happy TODAY.”
Her transition from California to Georgia marked more than a simple address change—it symbolized rejecting financial litigation in favor of emotional fulfillment. Renner admitted California residency had been tied to pursuing court-ordered payments.

“A big part of wanting to stay in California was the child support stuff. As a mom, I felt like I was failing my son,” she said. With Washington allegedly absent from their child’s life since May 7, 2025, Renner initially viewed monetary compensation as justified.
“If my child’s father doesn’t want to be around and all you’re good for is money, well then give me more of it. Give us more of it, so at least we can have a good life since you’re not going to be involved,” Renner added, explaining, “If I can’t get you to care about something that you co-created, then I might as well hit you where I guess it seemingly would hurt you, the only thing you care about, which is money.”
Her mindset shifted when she realized she “never needed money to be happy” and understood her child “doesn’t care about that.”
“At that point, if I’m trying to create this lifestyle for him, I’m creating on someone else’s dime. That’s also a false sense of security, reality,” she explained, admitting, “I never, ever wanted someone else to be my story. But I think also with that influence, with feeling like I wasn’t doing enough as a mom, I also didn’t have a belief that I could go get it on my own.”
A judge previously mandated Washington provide $5,500 monthly after his NFL contract finalization late last year.
