*Bill Cosby is taking legal steps to stop several women, including Janice Dickinson, from testifying against him in an upcoming civil trial.
According to TMZ, court filings show he is asking a judge to exclude testimony from Dickinson, Andrea Constand, and others connected to past allegations. He is also seeking to keep additional claims of sexual misconduct from being introduced as evidence. Dickinson previously spoke about her encounter with Cosby in an interview with CNN – watch the clip below.
Among the material Cosby wants barred is “evidence of sexual misconduct allegations” involving Barbara Bowman, Theresa Picking Serignese, and other accusers. According to the court documents, Cosby argues the claims should not be presented because they involve alleged acts that were ultimately “uncharged.” His legal team maintains that such evidence would be inadmissible in the current proceedings.
We reported earlier that Motsinger’s lawsuit stems from an encounter she says occurred in 1972 while she was working as a server at the Trident restaurant in Sausalito, California. According to her complaint, Cosby handed her a pill she believed was aspirin. She alleges that after ingesting it, she began to feel unwell and later regained consciousness the next morning in her bed, clothed only in her underwear.
In sworn deposition testimony related to the case, Cosby acknowledged obtaining a prescription for Quaaludes and renewing it seven times. He stated that he acquired the medication with the intent of giving it to women in hopes of having sex with them, while maintaining that he did not take the pills himself. The prescription was written by Dr. Leroy Amar during a poker game at Cosby’s Los Angeles residence before 1972, according to his testimony. Court filings describe Amar as a “disgraced” gynecologist whose California medical license was revoked in 1979.
Cosby has moved to dismiss Motsinger’s complaint, a step she is opposing as the litigation continues. He served nearly three years in prison for aggravated indecent assault before his conviction was overturned in 2021 on procedural grounds.
