*Bill Cosby provided explosive testimony under oath about acquiring sedatives during the early 1970s.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the comedian acknowledged securing a Quaalude prescription and renewing it seven times with plans to offer the medication to women as part of his sexual pursuits. Cosby maintained throughout his deposition that he personally abstained from taking the drug.
The testimony surfaced within litigation brought by Donna Motsinger, who accuses the entertainer of sexual assault. Her legal action has unearthed details about Cosby’s pharmaceutical acquisition methods and stated motivations.

Cosby’s account of obtaining the prescription raises eyebrows. He testified that Dr. Leroy Amar, a gynecologist and personal acquaintance, wrote the prescription during a card game at the Cosby’s Los Angeles home sometime before 1972. Per TMZ, legal filings characterize Dr. Amar as a “disgraced” physician, and his license was revoked in California in 1979.
Motsinger alleges Cosby assaulted her in 1972. Her complaint states that the former television star offered her medication he represented as aspirin. Following ingestion, she experienced repeated loss of consciousness. Her next clear memory was waking in her home the subsequent morning, stripped down to her underwear.
Cosby seeks dismissal of Motsinger’s complaint, while she opposes his motion and advances her case. Though the full deposition remains under seal, excerpts included in recently filed court papers expose Cosby’s acknowledgment of systematic quaalude procurement and his explicit purpose for obtaining the controlled substance repeatedly.
These revelations add another layer to decades of sexual misconduct accusations confronting the performer. The sworn testimony provides rare documented admission regarding Cosby’s possession of sedatives and his rationale for maintaining a supply during the period when Motsinger and other women claim assaults occurred.
