*Kimmie may finally control the Bellarie empire, but the newly released trailer for “Beauty in Black” Season 3 makes clear that keeping power will be far more difficult than taking it.
Tyler Perry’s Netflix drama returns Aug. 27 with a shorter six-episode season, according to Netflix Life. Previous installments arrived in eight-episode parts, but the upcoming chapter will move through its conflicts at a quicker pace.
Taylor Polidore Williams returns as Kimmie, whose journey from exotic dancer to corporate leader has placed her at the center of the Bellarie family’s sprawling beauty business. Following the upheaval of Season 2, she must now defend her position while deciding whom she can trust.
Her support system includes two figures who were once on opposing sides. Mallory, played by Crystle Stewart, has entered an alliance with Kimmie, while Horace, portrayed by Ricco Ross, is back in better health and prepared to help challenge his family.

Their partnership could threaten Roy, Charles, Norman and Olivia, whose suspected criminal activity places the Bellaries under growing scrutiny. The FBI becomes part of the fight as Kimmie and her allies work to expose the family’s dealings.
Williams said the new episodes will examine whether Kimmie can survive after reaching the position she fought to claim.
“In Season 3, you start to see Kimmie step fully into her power with all of the support she needs,” Williams said, per Tudum. Now that Kimmie has authority, “the final six episodes answer the question of, can she maintain it?”
Stewart said the fallout from Season 2 will push the characters into increasingly volatile territory.
“The tension, the drama, and the power struggles are only going to deepen from here,” Stewart said, “and viewers are going to see these characters pushed further than ever before.”

Debbi Morgan returns as Olivia, alongside Julian Horton as Roy, Steven G. Norfleet as Charles and Richard Lawson as Norman. Amber Reign Smith, Terrell Carter, Charles Malik Whitfield and Xavier Smalls also reprise their roles. Production continues in Atlanta and Chicago, preserving the metropolitan settings that shape the series’ world.
Although the six-episode season appears designed to settle several major conflicts, Kimmie’s story will continue beyond August. Netflix has already ordered a fourth season of “Beauty in Black.”
“Beauty in Black is back for Season 4, and the Bellarie family’s story is far from finished,” Perry tells Tudum. “There was so much more I wanted to explore, and I’m grateful I get to keep telling this story. To the audience that has been on this ride with us from day one, thank you for watching and sharing it with the world. More episodes are on the way!”
Season 2 is currently available to stream before the new episodes premiere Aug. 27. Watch the official trailer for the third season above.
