*50 Cent recently revealed that his decision to appear on ABC for an interview about the documentary “Sean Combs: The Reckoning” was driven by the network’s accessibility behind bars.
As XXL reports, he shared an X post on Instagram that stated: “Finding out 50 agreed to do an interview with ABC news station only because it’s one of the few stations they’re allowed to watch in prison. He’s a menace.” 50 captioned the post: “I thought about it, what’s wrong with that?”
The rapper’s interview aired on “Good Morning America” on Dec. 1, where he discussed serving as executive producer of the Netflix series alongside director Alexandria Stapleton. During the appearance, he spoke about why the project aims to present a fuller picture of the music mogul’s rise and the serious allegations now attached to his legacy. The series debuted on Netflix on Dec. 2.
The production includes rare footage, including a moment believed to have been filmed shortly before Combs’ September 2024 arrest. In one scene, he tells his attorneys, “Listen to me, I am going to let you professionals look at the situation and come back to me with a solution … Y’all are not working together the right way. We’re losing.” Another clip follows him through Harlem before he returns to his car and remarks, “I been out in the streets amongst the people, I gotta take a bath. The amount of people I’m coming into contact with, that’s what I have to do.”
50 Cent noted on the show that the footage reveals underlying concerns about Combs’ behavior. “It shows you his character,” he said, adding, “What’s the odds you would do that in front of a camera? That’s one of the moments he forgot he was on tape.”
Combs’ spokesperson Juda Engelmayer countered with a statement saying they were “deeply concerned” about the private clips and questioned how the material was obtained.
The documentary also traces Combs’ role in shaping Bad Boy Entertainment while confronting serious accusations, including those first raised in Casandra Ventura’s 2023 lawsuit. Stapleton described the series as “a mirror [reflecting us] as the public,” stressing its broader cultural significance.
