*Netflix’s new four-part documentary, “Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” premieres December 2, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson joined director Alexandria Stapleton on “Good Morning America” to discuss what viewers can expect from the revealing series. The project examines the rise and downfall of the music mogul, bringing forward never-before-seen footage and testimonies from those who knew the music mogul at various points in his career.
Among the unearthed material is video believed to have been recorded shortly before Combs’ September 2024 arrest. One scene shows him in a tense exchange with his attorneys, saying, “Listen to me, I am going to let you professionals look at the situation and come back to me with a solution … Y’all are not working together the right way. We’re losing.”
Another clip captures him greeting people in Harlem, then asking for hand sanitizer after retreating to his car and saying, “I been out in the streets amongst the people, I gotta take a bath. The amount of people I’m coming into contact with, that’s what I have to do.”
50 Cent told Robin Roberts that the footage reflects deeper issues. “It shows you his character,” he said, adding, “What’s the odds you would do that in front of a camera? That’s one of the moments he forgot he was on tape.” Meanwhile, Combs’ spokesperson Juda Engelmayer expressed concern about the use of private material, stating they were “deeply concerned” and questioning how the footage was obtained.
The series revisits Combs’ influence at Bad Boy Entertainment, where he helped launch artists such as The Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, and Danity Kane. It also addresses troubling allegations, including claims raised in Casandra Ventura’s 2023 lawsuit. In a statement via Netflix’s Tudum, Stapleton noted the broader implications of the story, saying the documentary acts as “a mirror [reflecting us] as the public.” She emphasized its cultural relevance amid ongoing conversations about accountability in entertainment.
50 Cent praised the contributors who shared their experiences, saying, “I’m grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories.”
“Sean Combs: The Reckoning” streams on Netflix starting December 2. Watch the new teaser trailer above.
