*Netflix has carved out a fast‑moving assembly line for Tyler Perry productions, and 2025 is primed to deliver the busiest slate yet.
In 2023, Perry entered a major multi-year agreement with Netflix, building on his prior collaboration with the platform, which included titles like “The Jazzman’s Blues” and “A Madea Homecoming.”
“Netflix has been an incredible partner to work with, and so is Amazon,” Perry stated previosuly, per Variety. “It’s been really, really, really incredible, and that’s all I’ll say about it.”
Perry’s projects currently available on Netflix include “Brain on Fire” (2016), “A Fall From Grace” (2020), “Don’t Look Up” (2021), “A Madea Homecoming” (2022), “A Jazzman’s Blues” (2022), “Mea Culpa” (2024), “The Six Triple Eight” (2024), and the two-part series “Beauty in Black.”
Five projects are locked for next year, three arriving during the summer, while a hit series has already secured its season‑two renewal. Per Netflix, below is a title‑by‑title rundown of everything Perry has queued up for the streamer.

She The People
Release Dates: Part 1 ‑ May 22, 2025 | Part 2 ‑ August 14, 2025
Created, written and directed by Tyler Perry with co‑creator Niya Palmer, this half‑hour political dramedy centers on Terri J. Vaughn’s Antoinette Dunkerson, a newly elected lieutenant governor trying to “thrive under a sexist and condescending governor while attempting to keep her family in line now that they’re all in the public eye.”
Per Tudum, “She the People” is the second series under Perry’s multi-year first-look creative partnership with Netflix, which sees him write, produce, and direct films, series, and faith-based features. Perry’s latest film, “The Six Triple Eight,” became his most viewed film on Netflix in its first four weeks of streaming, and the release boosted viewing for his other films by 45 percent.

Netflix hosted a screening for the series on May 18 at iPic, followed by a “Hey Queen” brunch at Rumi’s Kitchen. Vaughn, Palmer, and executive producer Keisha Lance Bottoms toasted the cast, including Jade Novah, Drew Olivia Tillman, Tré Boyd, Dyon Brooks, and Jo Marie Payton, alongside guests such as Rockmond Dunbar, Avery Sunshine, and members of Black Women & Film.
“She the People” will premiere following the breakout success of the hit drama “Beauty in Black Part 1,” which debuted at No. 1 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English-language TV list in October 2024.
Straw
Release Date: June 11, 2025

Written and directed by Perry, “Straw” stars Taraji P. Henson, Sherri Shepherd, Teyana Taylor, Glynn Turman, Sinbad, and Rockmond Dunbar. According to Netflix, the drama tracks “a single mother [who] faces a series of unfortunate events that lead her down an unexpected path.”
The official synopsis sets the tone for the emotional and societal weight of the story: A single mother’s world unravels in chaos as her day goes from bad to worse to catastrophic while she struggles to care for her ill daughter. Pushed to the brink by a world that seems indifferent to her existence, she’s forced to confront impossible choices in a society that offers her no safety net.
Filmed in just four days, the production matched the intensity of the narrative. Henson managed to juggle this demanding shoot while still working on her Peacock limited series, “Fight Night.”
“That’s what I like about Tyler Perry, he’s fast, and I can be fast too,” she said. “He knew he had a limited amount of time with me. He used it wisely.”
Madea’s Destination Wedding
Release Date: July 11, 2025

Madea trades her porch for the Bahamas in “Madea’s Destination Wedding,” when Brian and his ex-wife Debrah are shocked to discover their daughter is marrying a rapper she just met on a yacht, and the ceremony is only two weeks away. Tyler Perry, Cassi Davis Patton, David Mann, Tamela Mann and franchise newcomers Taja V. Simpson and Diamond White headline the beach‑set chaos.
“I was done with Madea, completely done with it,” Perry told Variety in 2020. “But as I’ve been looking at the state of the world … and the amount of joy and laughter that it brought to so many people, that’s what I think is missing. We need that laughter and that joy.”
R&B
Release Date: 2025 (TBD)

Perry shifts to producer for this contemporary retelling of the biblical story of Ruth and Boaz in “R&B,” directed by first‑timer Alanna Brown. Serayah McNeill, Tyler Lepley, Phylicia Rashad, and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds lead the cast, which includes Walnette Santiago, Nijah Brenea, James Lee Thomas, Jermaine Dupri, Lecrae Moore, Christopher Broughton, and Yung Joc.
Here’s the official logline: Set in Tennessee, R&B tells the story of a young woman who escapes the Atlanta music scene to care for an elderly, widowed woman and, in the process, finds the love of her life and gains the mother she never had.
The film is part of Netflix’s new faith‑based initiative.

Beauty in Black – Season 2
Release Date: 2026 (TBD)
After racking up nearly 25 million views in late 2024 and early 2025, the dysfunctional‑family drama was renewed ahead of its part‑two drop.
“We left fans on the edge of their seats at the end of Season 1, and we’re thrilled to continue Kimmie’s journey as she steps into her power as the newest member of the Bellaire family,” shared Perry when the pickup was announced.
“Kimmie exemplifies the spirit of never underestimating the underdog, and I can’t wait for fans to continue to see her story unfold. If you thought Season 1 was a wild ride, you’re not ready for Season 2,” he added.
What Else Is on Perry’s Radar?
Perry’s “Doing Life” was announced in April 2025, but the release date has not been announced. The story follows a single mother whose path intersects with a former prisoner seeking redemption. Joyce Glenn, Danielle Moné Truitt, and Jay Reeves are among the cast.
The multi‑hyphenate is also developing a Netflix comedy called “Joe’s College Road Trip,” though the streamer has not confirmed it for 2025.
Outside Netflix, Perry is producing “Joy Ridge” for Prime Video and remains attached to “Sister Act 3.”
