*Following the tragic terrorist attack in New Orleans that took the lives of at least 10 people and injured more than 30 others, details about the suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar/Shamsuddin Bahar Jabbar, have come to light, painting a harrowing picture of a man tormented by personal turmoil and potential affiliations with violent extremism.

Jabbar was in the midst of an acrimonious divorce when his then-wife, Shaneen Chantil Jabbar, sought a restraining order against him. Although the specific details of her petition have not been made public, a court order granting the restraining order prohibited both parties from threatening each other or their child with imminent bodily injury, TMZ is reporting. It further barred either from intentionally or knowingly causing bodily harm, withdrawing their child from school, or secretly keeping the child from the other party.

This is not the first instance of marital discord for Jabbar. A previous wife, who divorced him in 2016, described him as abusive but declined to provide further details. These personal issues coincided with his increasingly unstable behavior, culminating in the violent incident on Bourbon Street, where Jabbar intentionally drove his pickup truck into a large crowd before opening fire on police officers. He was ultimately shot dead by responding officers.

Investigation into Jabbar’s background has revealed alarming findings, including the discovery of an ISIS flag in his truck and multiple suspected explosive devices found inside an ice chest. Authorities are working diligently to determine whether Jabbar had explicit ties to ISIS, raising concerns over the motives behind the attack.

Public records indicate that Jabbar, 42, lived in Texas and had a previous career as a real estate agent, along with a decade of service in the military as a human resources specialist and IT technician.

A YouTube video (watch at top of page) featuring Jabbar highlights his experience and dedication to service, presenting a striking contrast to the violence that would later characterize his actions.

As law enforcement investigates the circumstances leading up to the attack, they are focused on piecing together Jabbar’s motives and networks.

A photograph circulated among officials shows Jabbar, clad in camouflage and standing next to his truck, igniting further scrutiny of his affiliations and intentions.

As details continue to unfold, the tragic event on New Year’s Eve serves as a painful reminder of the complex interplay between personal struggles, domestic violence, and the manifestation of extremist ideologies. The New Orleans community is left grappling with grief, anger, and confusion as they seek understanding in the wake of such incomprehensible violence during what should have been a time of celebration. Investigators are determined to uncover the full scope of Jabbar’s actions and their implications, ensuring that justice is served for the victims and their families.
