*R&B star SZA took to Instagram to voice her alarm over the environmental consequences of artificial intelligence.
As Billboard reports, she highlighted how AI systems, like those powering ChatGPT and Grok, consume massive energy, leading to pollution that disproportionately harms Black and brown communities.
“Please google how much energy and pollution it takes to run Ai,” she urged in an Instagram comment, pointing to cities like Memphis suffering from AI-driven environmental strain. She added, “PLEASE JUST GOOGLE ENVIRONMENTAL RACISM,” emphasizing that “AI doesn’t give a f–k if you live or die I promise.”
The “Snooze” singer didn’t stop there. On July 15, she criticized AI users for their reliance on technology, stating on her Story, “AI is killing and polluting Black and Brown cities. None of you care ‘cause [you’re] codependent on a machine. Have a great life.” Her comments underscore a growing concern about the hidden costs of AI, particularly its impact on marginalized communities.
Meanwhile, SZA found herself entangled in a public dispute with rapper Nicki Minaj. The feud erupted on July 15 when Minaj accused SZA’s manager, Terrence “Punch” Henderson, of “bullying” her. When SZA seemingly addressed the claims by writing, “don’t take the bait lol silly goose,” Nicki replied: “Go draw your freckles back on bookie.”

The hip-hop star escalated the conflict on X, calling SZA “ugly” and a “liar” and mocking her appearance with, “B—h looking & sounding like she got stung by a f–king bee.” She also dismissed SZA’s musical impact, claiming, “SZA if every song you’ve ever done vanished right now the music business wouldn’t even miss you.”
SZA, unfazed, responded, “I don’t give a f–k bout none of that weird s–t you popping,” and clarified she “wasn’t even talking about or to anyone.”
The “Kill Bill” artist also addressed Minaj’s fanbase, the Barbz, saying, “I get bullied by millions online every day then step … out onna (sic) packed stadium tour where ppl show me REAL love . IN REAL LIFE.”
Despite the online vitriol, SZA remains focused on her success, noting, “My parents are healthy and I’m the most successful I ever been.”
