*Frito-Lay has recalled over 6,000 bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips due to undeclared milk, which poses a serious risk to individuals with dairy allergies.
The FDA upgraded the recall to Class I—the highest risk level—after determining the chips could cause life-threatening allergic reactions, Soap Central reports. The affected 13-ounce bags were sold in Oregon and Washington, marked with a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of February 11, 2025. Consumers with dairy allergies should check their packaging and discard any recalled products. No other Lay’s varieties are affected, and Frito-Lay is assisting customers with concerns.
The FDA announced this recall in an official press release, stating: “Frito-Lay today issued a recall of a limited number of 13 oz. bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips that may contain undeclared milk, after being alerted through a consumer contact. Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product.”
The agency added: “The product included in this recall was distributed to certain retail stores and e-commerce distributors in Oregon and Washington. Consumers would have been able to purchase these chips as early as November 3, 2024.”
