*Jordan Peele steps back into the producer’s chair for “Him,” a psychological horror film that fuses the intensity of football with a chilling, mind-bending narrative.
Set for release by Universal Pictures on September 19, 2025, the film is already generating buzz following a teaser debut at CinemaCon, though the footage has yet to be made public.
Marlon Wayans stars alongside rising talent Tyriq Withers, and the two appeared on stage at CinemaCon, offering an early glimpse into their dynamic. Wayans joked, “It’s kinda like Rudy,” to which Withers quickly replied, “It’s nothing at all like Rudy,” emphasizing the film’s darker tone. He described “Him” as “something that burrows under the skin.”
Directed by Justin Tipping, “Him” centers on a young quarterback (Withers) being mentored by a seasoned—and possibly haunted—former player (Wayans). Their relationship spirals into something far more sinister. In the trailer, Wayans’ character delivers a haunting line: “You have to ask yourself, ‘What am I willing to sacrifice?’” hinting at a story filled with moral tension and eerie twists.
Per Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, “HIM” is “an anti-sports horror movie” that “centers on a promising young football player who is invited to train at the isolated compound of a dynasty team’s aging QB1.”
‘HIM’ is a new horror movie that follows a college quarterback who gets the chance to train with his idol. His idol takes him into a sinister world to see what he’s willing to sacrifice for fame.

Universal calls the project “a blood-chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, power and the pursuit of excellence at any cost.”
The script, penned by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, was once featured on the prestigious Black List, a sign of its sharp writing and compelling premise. The supporting cast includes Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies, Guapdad 4000, and Tierra Whack.
“Him” is produced by Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions team: Jordan Peele, Ian Cooper, Win Rosenfeld, and Jamal Watson.
