*JAY-Z just took a significant hit on the sports betting front. The music mogul lost a $1 million wager after the Indiana Pacers outplayed the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
As PEOPLE reports, the bet, placed via Fanatics Sportsbook, hinged on the Thunder winning the series in five games—an outcome no longer possible after the Pacers secured their second win of the series.
TMZ Sports reports that the 55-year-old rapper backed Oklahoma City for a swift victory. After stealing Game 1 on the road, the Pacers returned to defend their home court with a 116–107 win on Wednesday night (June 11). Fanatics Sportsbook revealed the rapper’s bet on June 5 in a post on X. Game 4 of the Finals is set for Friday, June 13, in Indianapolis at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Meanwhile, we reported earlier that Chipotle is giving away free food during the games. The popular fast-food chain recently unveiled its latest giveaway, Chipotle Instant Freeplays. The promo runs throughout the championship series.
Here’s how it works: Every time a Coach’s Challenge is initiated during a Finals game, Chipotle will post a keyword on its official X account (@ChipotleTweets). The first 5,000 people to text that keyword to 888222 will receive a code for a free entrée.

“Having the game come to a halt and watching referees review a play over-and-over again is rarely enjoyable,” said Chris Brandt, Chipotle’s president and chief brand officer, per PEOPLE. “We want fans to have fun throughout the game, so we are offering a chance to score free Chipotle during Coach’s Challenge reviews.”
Coach’s Challenges allow NBA teams to request a review of a referee’s call, such as a personal foul, goaltending, or out-of-bounds violation. If a team’s first challenge is upheld, they’re granted a second one, a scenario that could mean multiple chances for fans to score free food in a single game.
Per PEOPLE, citing the announcement:
“Each team is given one Coach’s Challenge per game that can be used to review a personal foul given to one of its players, an out-of-bounds violation, a goaltending violation or a basket interference violation.”
“If a team’s first challenge is successful, they will be awarded a second challenge. Basketball fans frequently take to social media to vent about how some replay reviews take too long.”
Each code from the Instant Freeplays promotion is valid for one regularly priced entrée, such as a burrito, burrito bowl, tacos, quesadilla, or salad, and must be redeemed within five days. The offer is available only to customers in the U.S. who are 13 years or older. Read the additional rules here on the Chipotle website here.
The 2025 NBA Finals could run through June 22, depending on whether the series extends to a Game 7. The full game schedule is available on the NBA website.
