*Brad Pitt leads the star-studded cast in the adrenaline-fueled “F1 The Movie,” a new action-packed racing drama from Apple Original Films and the creative minds behind “Top Gun: Maverick.”
Set to debut internationally on June 25 and in U.S. theaters and IMAX on June 27, the film is directed by Joseph Kosinski and features Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a once-promising F1 driver whose career was derailed by a devastating crash in the 1990s. Now, decades later, Sonny is lured back into the high-speed world he left behind.
The film follows Sonny’s reluctant return to the sport after a call from his former teammate Ruben Cervantes, played by Javier Bardem, who now owns a floundering Formula 1 team in desperate need of a comeback. With his legacy hanging in the balance, Sonny agrees to race again, this time mentoring the team’s ambitious young rookie, Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris).
“The greatest that never was,” Sonny is a man grappling with his past while navigating fierce competition on the track, including from his own teammate. As the story unfolds, he learns that redemption in Formula 1 doesn’t come easy, and it certainly doesn’t come alone.
Joining Pitt, Idris, and Bardem is a stacked cast, including Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Kim Bodnia. The film has been uniquely shot during real Grand Prix weekends, immersing viewers directly into the intense world of Formula 1 alongside actual racing legends and events.

The project reunites a powerhouse filmmaking team: Jerry Bruckheimer, Joseph Kosinski, and seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton all serve as producers alongside Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Chad Oman, and Pitt himself. Ehren Kruger penned the screenplay, with Hans Zimmer composing the score.
“F1 The Movie” is poised to deliver an authentic, high-speed spectacle that brings fans directly into the cockpit. Watch the new trailer below.
