*Season 2 of “Deb’s House” brings a fresh twist to the hit competition series created by legendary music mogul Deb Antney. After a hip-hop-focused debut, the show now shifts to R&B, spotlighting a new group of vocalists handpicked to battle for stardom under Antney’s guidance. This season, the competition digs deeper into artistry, discipline, and resilience as Antney searches for the next breakout R&B star.
Antney explained the transition, saying, “… the genre of music is different, but the emotions are still there. The whole thing is the competition, and the competition is against oneself. You’re not competing against anybody. Competition comes from who you are. So this season, that’s who you’re competing against, yourself.”
Joining Antney this season are powerhouse mentors: her son and rapper Waka Flocka Flame, vocalist Keke Wyatt, and LeLee Lyons of the iconic group SWV. Their insights, artistry, and honesty add depth to the competition. “Keke brings that motherly love. LeLee Lyons is like, lion for real. She’s coming in roaring, and she’s going to keep it all the way 100. Keke has that mothering… and I needed that part also,” Antney said.
Inside “Deb’s House,” artists face vocal boot camps, discipline-driven challenges, and the relentless reality of fighting for a career in music. Antney stressed that the show is not designed for drama or spectacle. “… we’re really doing music to show you that these people have talent…. It’s not like other reality shows where they give most of their time to the fighting and the beefs and the garbage.”
The show maintains strict rules to ensure focus, growth, and respect for the craft. “We have no alcohol or drugs on our premises. Not allowed. They can’t drink in my house. They celebrate, they got a little champagne. But I need them in the right frame of mind because you’re already getting ready to fight a major battle. Who is harder to face than oneself?”
Though Antney is known for her toughness, she also brings compassion to her mentorship. “Because I love them. You know what I’m saying? I have love for them. I can’t work with everybody. And the minute you don’t give me what I need, you start to bore me. Doesn’t mean I don’t like you. It’s like, I know I’m not the fit.”
Ultimately, Antney hopes viewers connect deeply with the artists’ journeys, saying: “This is your reality show detox.”
