*Anthony Anderson faced a health scare over the weekend when sudden knee swelling landed him in the emergency room.
“Sunday morning out of the blue I woke up to a swollen knee. I ended up in the ER until 1230am,” the “Black-ish” star shared on Instagram on August 5.
As Men’s Journal reports, doctors diagnosed arthritis and gout, draining 140 cc’s of fluid from his knee. Anderson expressed gratitude for the medical team and his support system. “Thank you to the doctors at UCLA Santa Monica, my son @hotboynato and Lucero from making sure that I was ok,” he wrote.
He also posted a video showing his swollen knee and the needle used for the procedure, highlighting the severity of the issue. Fans and friends flooded the comments with well-wishes. “Prayers your way,” one follower wrote. Another shared, “Opphhh. I’ve had my knee drained before and that s*** hurt like hell. But the immediate relief was unreal. Hope your knee feels better.”
A third added, “Wow! What a before and after difference. Hope you’re feeling much better now.” The outpouring of support continued, with one user noting, “Hope you’ll be back to 100% soon.”

Anderson’s recent work on the TV series “Public Defenders” was not mentioned as being affected, but it’s unclear if the health issue caused any professional setbacks.
The NAACP Image Award-winning actor has not shared further updates on his condition, but the response from his community reflects his impact as a beloved actor.
