*Nathan Wade, who lost his prosecutor position in the Donald Trump election fraud case due to an affair scandal with District Attorney Fani Willis, is now citing financial hardship to avoid paying alimony to his estranged wife, Joycelyn Wade.
We reported earlier that Jocelyn accused Wade of contempt of court in a new divorce filing. According to the Daily Mail, she asserts she’s unable to cover the bills on her own since Wade ceased child support payments for their two children.
Fulton County DA Fani Willis appointed Wade to oversee the prosecution of Donald Trump for attempting to overturn his 2020 election defeat. Nathan is in the midst of a contentious divorce case, where it emerged he had a sexual relationship with Willis. The scandal led to his resignation as top prosecutor in the Trump case.
After stepping down from the Georgia case, Wade claims he cannot fulfill the terms of a recent temporary agreement with Jocelyn.
“With the income from [Wade’s] employement as the Special Prosecutor no longer coming in, and with income from [his] private practice being diminished, [he] is no longer able to … meet the financial obligations set forth in the temporary order,” Wade’s divorce lawyer M. Scott Kimbrough wrote in papers filed Monday, New York Post reports.
Wade is seeking an urgent court hearing for his divorce, aiming to reduce his support payments as Joycelyn accuses him of contempt of court for refusing to cover her medical bills and financially support their two children as part of a temporary settlement reached in January.
Joycelyn’s attorneys are requesting that the judge incarcerate Wade until he fulfills his outstanding financial obligations. She accuses Wade of reneging on his commitment to financially assist their son in pursuing a professional soccer career in Europe, cover their daughter’s rent, and support her as she prepares for medical college admissions exams.
“Defendant urgently requires medical procedures, namely an endoscopy, colonoscopy, and ultrasound, due to severe physical symptoms she has been enduring,” Jocelyn’s filing states, adding, “These symptoms have significantly impacted her ability to consume most foods, leading to a substantial weight loss.”
Wade reportedly earned over $700,000 during his tenure with the DA and splurged thousands on extravagant trips with Fani.
