*Jeezy wants to be the custodial parent of his two-year-old daughter, whom he shares with his estranged wife, Jeannie Mai.
According to TMZ, in newly filed court docs, the rapper asked to be awarded primary custody of Monaco Mai Jenkins. Jeezy is “asking a judge to toss out the current custody and parenting time arrangement he hashed out in mediation with his estranged wife … and requesting that his daughter be allowed to live with him full-time,” the outlet writes.
Jeezy and Jeannie reportedly reached a parenting arrangement schedule for their daughter during mediation. However, according to new documents, the hip-hop star now wants full-time custody of Monaco, citing Mai’s busy schedule as the reason.
Jeezy filed for divorce in Atlanta, Georgia, in Sept. 2023, after two-and-a-half years of marriage. According to People, the filing states there is “no hope for reconciliation.”
Jeezy and Jeannie married in March 2021 and welcomed their daughter the following year. Jeezy’s divorce docs state that Mai acts “as a gatekeeper” when it comes to him “exercising parenting time with [Monaco].”
Mai clarified in her declaration that the distance was a precautionary measure to safeguard Monaco, citing concerns that Jeezy was not securing firearms on his premises during visits with the toddler.
“It is essential to clarify that Ms. Jenkins’ insistence on reasonable safety measures being put in place, such as safely securing and locking away all firearms that have been unsecured in the past, as well as having familiarity and properly trained caregivers is absolutely not gatekeeping, but rather a responsible effort to prioritize their daughter’s well-being,” Mai’s attorneys wrote in legal documents.
The media personality also claims Jeezy cheated on her, which he denied.
“Real n***s don’t cheat,” Jeezy told actress Nia Long during an interview in November 2023.
In a statement, Jeezy’s rep added, “Any claim of infidelity on Mr. Jenkins’ behalf are 100 percent false and we have no further statements at this time.”
