*Years after making his mark in the NFL, Michael Vick is returning to the game of football on a college level.
TMZ Sports cites reporter David Teel, who revealed the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback will replace Dawson Odums as the next head football coach for the Norfolk State University Spartans.
The transition comes after Odums’ dismissal in November for amassing a record of 15-30 during his four-year tenure as coach at the HBCU. Although Vick is known for great moments on the gridiron during his playing days, the big question is whether he can carve out a new legacy with coaching from the sidelines.
Chronicling his pre-coaching career, TMZ noted his 13-year career in the pros, with time under legendary coaches Andy Reid and Mike Tomlin. Currently, there is no word on who will join Vick’s staff, other than speculation from local media sources who say names for the staffers will “likely be familiar to fans.”

What’s also noteworthy is that Sacramento State President Dr. Luke Wood said he also met with Michael Vick about the university’s football head coach job.
The position has been open since Andy Thompson resigned on Dec. 6 to take a position at Stanford University.
Wood said Vick expressed interest in the open position.
“Yes, I did meet with him about his interest in Sac State football and our athletic rise,” Wood shared on X. “As you can imagine, given the success of our athletic programs our football head coach job is an attractive role.”
Prior to his retirement from the NFL in 2017, Vick spent time as a coaching intern with the Chiefs that same year, which also saw him joining Fox Sports as an NFL analyst.
