*A female Metro rider in Pasadena, California, was assaulted earlier this month after a violent man walked up to her, punched her in the face, and began beating her head against the Metro platform. He then pushed her onto the train tracks and dragged her onto the nearby freeway.
Surveillance footage shows the attacker, identified as Juan Pablo, punching and kicking the woman on the side of the 210 Freeway, near the Allen metro station. The woman was able to escape and the suspect was found a few blocks away, KTLA 5 reports.
Pablo, 33, has been charged by the LA County District Attorney’s Office with felony attempted murder and felony mayhem, New York Post reports.
“Our thoughts are with the victim and her loved ones as she begins her journey toward recovery following this horrific attack,” said Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. George Gascón. “No one should have to endure such brutality, and everyone deserves to go about their day without fear for their safety. We will not tolerate violence on our transit system and will continue holding those responsible fully accountable for their actions.”

According to KTLA, the victim, who may face long-term disfigurement, sustained several broken bones, severe bruising, and deep lacerations that required stitches. She recently had to return to the hospital due to infections developing in some of her injuries.
Pablo is currently being held on $2 million bail and could face life in prison if convicted of the charges.”
According to The Post, local leaders are working to enhance safety measures for public transportation in Los Angeles and are considering whether Metro, the train system, should establish its own police force.
