*Popular social media outlet TikTok has entered the parody zone, courtesy of “Saturday Night Live.” According to Vibe, the outlet pulled out the stops to draw laughs as frequent viral figures who use TikTok were highlighted.
Kenan Thompson led the way, impersonating Keith Lee to review a “Hennessy, habanero, fruity pebble chicken sandwich, from the fictitious “Lisa’s Soul Food in Atlanta.”
“I’m not gon’ lie y’all. That’s nasty,” Thompson’s influencer shared while taking a cue from the food critic’s TikTok videos. The “SNL” icon gave his verdict after taking a bite of the sandwich while sitting in a car. And the funnyman’s imitation would not be complete without including Lee’s signature zoom-in.
As the TikTok parody continues, Heidi Gardner, Devon Walker and Bowen Yang bring the humor to their respective impersonations of Nara Smith, Dr. Umar Johnson and Harry Daniels, respectively. Even Vice President Kamala Harris isn’t immune with her campaign’s text message inquiries being lampooned via a returning Maya Rudolph as the Democratic presidential candidate (check it out above).
Highlighting the “trad wife” trend, Gardner does her spoofing Nara Smith’s style as Greta Meadows.
“Today my husband asked for beef tacos and I didn’t want to let him down, so I slaughtered our cow and picked the corn myself,” she jokes in Smith’s tone and cadence, Vibe noted, adding that Meadows she destroys her law degree later in the clip to make paper from scratch because her children wanted to color.
Other highlights from the TikTok parody included Chloe Fineman channeling Alex Cooper and the Call Her Daddy podcast, James Austin Johnson humorously doling out his imitation of Donald Trump and Ego Nwodim bring Reesa Teesa to the situation with a multipart series explaining her “beef” with Chilli’s.
All in all, Vibe mentioned how the “SNL” sketch served as a metaphor for missing out on memorable life moments to scroll endlessly on social media.
