Kathryn Taylor Smith creates a clever and boldly insightful approach to life on the streets. Her charismatic renditions evoke a range of personalities including a transgender teen, a young mother, and concerned citizens of the City Council.

Under Zadia Ife’s direction, Ester emits humor, wisdom, and an up-front uncomfortable dose of commonality in each of the 19 characters portrayed. Taylor Smith’s writing is not merely based on instinct.  She conducted research and interviews with the homeless population as part of her studies to earn her master’s in clinical psychology.
