*Deutsch LA’s brand-building program, Blackness in Full Bloom, has teamed with Pharrell Williams’ Black Ambition non-profit to support local business owners of color.

According to a news release, the partnership will expand Blackness in Full Bloom’s reach beyond LA for the first time, helping entrepreneurs nationwide by providing free training and resources from an award-winning advertising agency.

We reported earlier that Williams believes investing in culture will reap big rewards, so he founded Black Ambition, an initiative that supports Black and Hispanic entrepreneurs. According to a news release, the foundation recently awarded $3.2M to 36 Black and Hispanic entrepreneurs.

“Where we are is where the profit is,” he said in an interview with Forbes. “There’s no denying that. We influence it.”

According to a news release, Black Ambition “awarded $1 million dollars to Antoinette Banks, CEO and Founder of Expert IEP, a parent-facing app that optimizes existing Individualized Education Plans with predictive AI for children diagnosed with a disability, as the Grand Prize Winner of its 2023 Prize competition at the third-annual “Demo Day” event” held November 9th at Spring Studios in New York.”

Meanwhile, since 2020, Deutsch LA has been committed to providing local, Black-owned businesses with the tools and resources needed to grow successful brands. On February 6th, the agency kicked off a 4-week series with nearly 40 Black Ambition prize winners.

Per the release, “They’ll participate in weekly sessions geared towards social media, paid media and public relations, design and more, from world-class Deutsch LA employees who are at the forefront of creating work for clients like Taco Bell, Walmart, PetSmart and more. Black Ambition prize winners will receive all these tools free of charge. As a bonus, our design team will assist three businesses with a brand refresh.”

We spoke to Ayn Howze, EVP, Head of Advocacy and Communications of Deutsch LA, to discuss the partnership with Pharrell and the agency’s commitment to advancing Black and Brown entrepreneurship/economic empowerment.
