R. Kelly Had to Have Surgery Inside Chicago Prison – Lawyer Blames Negligent Care

*Things are not going well for the convicted R. Kelly, healthwise, at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago and his legal rep is speaking out about the situation

Attorney Jennifer Bonjean said Kelly recently had surgery on his Achilles tendon after it was discovered last week he was suffering from blood clots.

Bonjean went even further and accused the Bureau of Prisons of negligent care.

“It’s not just because it’s R. Kelly. Every prison deserves medical attention, medical care,” she said. “The MCC is required to address these things in a competent fashion.”

According to ABC7, the station reached out to the Bureau of Prisons for comment, but as of this posting, has not heard back.

Kelly is currently serving a more than 20-year prison sentence for sex crime convictions in Chicago and New York.
