More Than $550K Raised for Family of Custodian Killed in Nashville School Shooting | Video

*More than $555,000 has been raised on GoFundMe for the family of custodian Mike Hill who was killed in the Nashville school shooting this week.

Hill, 61, was one of six victims in the shooting at the Covenant School in Green Hills on Monday.

“Mike was the beloved father of eight children,” the organizer of a GoFundMe said. “More notably, he was ‘Big Mike’ to his students, who will surely feel his loss in the years to come. Per his family, he took great pleasure and found tremendous joy in his job and through those students.”

Per GoFundMe’s description, the money raised will go directly toward Hill’s family.

“Mike deserves to be remembered for his selfless act protecting our children,” the organizer said.

The school shooter was 28-year-old Audrey Hale, a mentally ill woman who identified as male. She killed six people at the private Christian school, including three children. The mainstream media has made a point of noting that Hale was a transgender male who used he/him pronouns.

According to multiple reports, Hale sent Instagram messages to a former middle school classmate warning that she was “planning to die.”

“I’m planning to die today,” Hale wrote to Averianna Patton, The Tennessean reports. “You’ll probably hear about me on the news after I die.”

Hale left behind a “manifesto” that police have not yet released. Prior to the shooting rampage, Hale was being treated for an unspecified “emotional disorder,” said Metro Police Chief John Drake, according to the report.

According to the BBC, Hale was armed with three guns at the time of the attack, including a semi-automatic rifle. When police searched the home she lived at with her parents, they seized more firearms.

Police also found Hale’s plan for other deadly attacks, including on a Nashville mall.
