Larry Buford’s Inspiring and Wonderful Story Behind ‘December Love!’ | VIDEO

*Greetings everyone! Here’s another song from my Radio Airplay and Number 1 Music (N1M) playlists called “December Love.” I wrote the song in the 1970s.

The original title was “In Love With Love” but I changed it after a broken relationship. With the assistance of one of my uncles, we were able to get it published on sheet music. It was a very proud moment for me!

Fast forward to 1992 after moving from Detroit to Los Angeles, I decided to record the song on my Watchman record label. It was a time when I was burning the candle at both ends – working full-time as an administrative supervisor at a major law firm and recording my songs at various studios at night.

I was so determined to record my songs and build up my DerShawn Music Publishing catalog, that I was recording at five different studios during the same period.

Fortunately, I was introduced to a lovely young lady who had a wonderful warmth in her powerful voice, singer Sandra Fairley.

After recording the song, I introduced it to some of my co-workers, and the administrator decided it would be a great stocking stuffer to sell as a Christmas charity fundraiser. The company was generous enough to pick up half the production cost. Sandra performed and promoted the song at various company holiday events in downtown Los Angeles and surrounding areas.

The drive was so successful that we were able to distribute a substantial amount of funds amongst 13 different charity organizations. Hope you like the song. Check it out via the player at the top of the page.  Also wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season!
