*Jeannie Mai recently appeared on Jennifer Hudson’s talk show and claimed she was blindsided when Jeezy filed for divorce.
Sources close to the hip-hop star said this is false, as Jeezy’s estranged wife knew divorce was imminent, RadarOnline.com reports.
Sources connected to Mai and Jeezy tell TMZ Hip Hop that the pair attended several sessions of marriage counseling before Jeezy decided their relationship was “irretrievably broken.”
Jeezy filed for divorce in Atlanta, Georgia, on Sept. 14, after two-and-a-half years of marriage. According to People, the filing there is “no hope for reconciliation.”
The ex-couple reportedly had a prenuptial agreement, and Jeezy wants to share joint legal custody of their daughter. The pair married in March 2021 and welcomed Monaco the following year.
One insider told ET that Jeezy and Jeannie’s opinions differed regarding “certain family values and expectations.”
In his latest legal filing, Jeezy notes. “[Mai] has acted as a gatekeeper when it comes to [Jeezy] exercising parenting time with [Monaco]”.
This “interference” is “causing confusion and tension” between Jeezy and his ex, per The Blast. “As such, it is necessary at this point to separate, structure and clearly define the parties’ temporary legal and physical custody rights and set a parenting time schedule consistent with the best interests of the Child,” the complaint states.
As RadarOnline.com reports, Mai told “The Jennifer Hudson Show” audience that Jeezy’s divorce filing ambushed her.
“Even though this year, I met the most broken version of me. I also met the strongest version of me,” she told Hudson.
Mai said she learned about her divorce “at the same as the rest of the world.”
“When I found out … that my marriage was ending in divorce, I was gutted,” she shared.
“So today, it’s about picking up the pieces. It’s about discovering me and being a mom to the best blessing in my life, my little girl,” Mai explained.
As RadarOnline.com reports, Mai claims Jeezy was unfaithful during their marriage and wants a hefty payout and primary custody of their daughter.
A rep for Jeezy denied her cheating accusations, stating, “Any claim of infidelity on Mr. Jenkins behalf are 100% false and he has no further statements at this time.”
