*Jamie Foxx, still on the mend from an undisclosed medical condition, is apologizing for his cryptic Instagram message about “fake friends,” “fake love” and Jesus being crucified after the post was criticized as antisemitic.
“THEY KILLED THIS DUDE NAMED JESUS…WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY’LL DO TO YOU???!,” Foxx shared via Instagram Friday afternoon, followed by “#FakeFriends #FakeLove.” Some in the Jewish community took offense, believing “they” in the post referred to Jews.
The actor posted an apology Saturday afternoon for his “choice of words.” He also said that his use of #FakeFriends referred to a “fake friend” who had “betrayed” him.
“That’s what I meant with ‘they,’ not anything more,” he continued.

The confusion comes two weeks after the actor also used his Instagram to update fans on his medical condition after suffering an unnamed medical emergency that left him hospitalized.
“I went through something that I thought I would never, ever go through,” he said in the video. “I know a lot of people were waiting and you know wanting to hear updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that, man. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through.”
He also addressed rumors that his illness had caused paralysis, adding: “As you can see, the eyes are working fine and I’m not paralyzed, but I went to hell and back. And my road to recovery had some potholes as well, but I’m coming back and I’m able to work.”
