*DJ Envy is facing another lawsuit related to the alleged real estate Ponzi scheme with former business partner Cesar Pina.
Pena and “The Breakfast Club host,” along with several others, are being sued by Derik Deangelo, Chamblin Group Real Estate Ventures LLC. and Reispec Developments LLC for allegedly using their “Flipping New Jersey” real estate seminars as “funnels” to scam money from unsuspecting victims, All Hip Hop reports.
“During these private consultations and meet and greets, members of the Pina network attempted to ‘size up’ the financial resources of each attendee and solicited individuals with sufficiently high net worth to “partner” with Pina, DJ Envy, and other members of the network in real estate ‘joint ventures,’” the legal docs read, per All Hip Hop.
Cesar allegedly partnered with DJ Envy in 2018 and created real estate seminars for people looking to break into the industry. In a separate lawsuit filed by Anthony Barone and Anthony Martini, Envy, Pina and his wife Jennier Pina, are accused of scamming the plaintiffs out of $1.5 million in investments for a planned 50-unit apartment project called Taylor Apartments.
Barone and Martin claim they invested in two real estate ventures that DJ Envy and the Pinas promoted. However, the suit alleges the trio disappeared with the money without following up on the project.
DJ Envy denies taking the money and ghosting the investors. He claims he is also a victim of a similar scam with Pinas in a separate project involving his investment of $500,000, Moguldom reports.
Per All Hip Hop, the latest lawsuit states: “The largest financial victim reported to date appears to be a Miami-based musician who alleges that he lost 5 million dollars. Current estimates among members of the public are that victims of this fraud scheme were scammed out of funds totaling 50-100 million dollars or more. As of the date of this Complaint, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey has criminally charged Defendant Cesar Pina with wire fraud for the activities that are the subject of this lawsuit.”
Envy addressed his legal drama on “The Breakfast Club” in October, reiterating that he was also a victim of Cesar’s illicit business dealings.
“Listen, so Ceasar and myself did seminars,” DJ Envy explained, Vibe reports. “Now the reason I did these seminars is because I wanted to uplift my community. I wanted to teach my community about real estate, things that I didn’t know when I was first buying my first home. I wanted to teach our community about investing in generational wealth.”
Envy made clear that he would never take advantage of the public.
“I would never, I been on radio for close to 30 years, and never in my 30 years time did I do nothing but try to uplift people in different ways with a business mind. I would never take a dollar from somebody,” he said.
