Director Deon Taylor Teases ‘Power Book: Force’ Season 2 Finale Details | EUR Video Exclusive

The trailer for season 2 of "Power Book IV: Force"
dropped this week and finds fan-favorite Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) in “Power Book IV: Force”

*We caught up with director Deon Taylor to discuss the explosive second season of “Power Book IV: Force” and the thrilling finale episode that premieres November 10.

The second season of “Force” debuted in September and “is filled with more power and more problems as a turf war takes shape and Tommy (Joseph Sikora) charts his territory, capitalizes on his competitors’ weaknesses, and makes his play at becoming the sole drug distributor in Chicago,” per the news release.

If the show is renewed for a third season, showrunner Gary Lennon said he has “a story in my mind where I will bring back a character from our Power OG world to intersect with Tommy Egan,” he explained in a new interview with The Messenger.

“I think it’d be a really cool, interesting reveal. I think that character intersecting in our world would make absolute sense and would dirty things up in a really good way that would excite me to write,” he added.

Taylor directed tonight’s finale episode from a script co-written by Lennon. The season-ender finds Tommy facing a tough decision about how much he is willing to sacrifice in pursuit of revenge and his long game to take over the Chicago drug game.

“Gary and I talked at the beginning of the season about what we wanted to do, and what he wanted to do for the season. We really wanted to take Tommy and put him squarely in his world. His world is Chicago,” said director Lisa Demaine, who helmed the “Crown Vic” episode and the ninth episode of the season, in an interview with Variety.

“It’s no longer New York, so the feel, the city, the grittiness of Chicago – which is different than New York – how the gangs dress, how the gangs operate, what territories and how they divide turf, how they speak, how they dress, the Latin gangs versus the African American gangs versus the Flynn gangs. Gary and I, working with Jody [Williams], our DP, about what lensing and colors and how we want to show Chicago,” Demaine continued.

“It’s still “Power,” but it’s now Tommy’s world, so giving it a new sort of feel and grounding it very much in where Tommy’s from,” she said.

We spoke to Taylor exclusively about his approach to directing the season finale and how he hopes it leaves a lasting impact on the audience. Watch our exclusive conversation via the clip below (which includes SPOILERS).
