*Cardi B’s rap skills are being mocked after throwing a microphone at an audience member who threw water at the rapper while she was performing in Las Vegas this weekend.

We reported earlier that fans posted video clips of an angry mic-throwing Cardi B. The woman hit by Cardi B’s microphone reported the incident to Las Vegas Metro PD, according to TMZ. We hear charges against Cardi may be filed. We’ll keep you updated as the saga continues.

In the meantime, the UK Mirror is reporting that after Cardi B responded to being splashed with water by throwing her microphone, it sparked an online debate online about lip-syncing. The video captured at a Las Vegas show on Saturday shows Cardi hurling her mic at the woman in the audience before shouting something at the person.

Despite the mic leaving Cardi B’s hand mid-song, her voice is still heard on the speaker system singing “Bodak Yellow,” suggesting that she lip-synced.

Journalist Benny Johnson noted how the rapper’s vocals continued after she retaliated against the water thrower. “The song didn’t stop. Y’all listening to an iPad,” he said.

Some defended the hip-hop star, while others criticized Cardi B and compared her to the R&B duo Milli Vanilli.

“Coincidentally, 34 years ago,[…]Milli Vanilli were caught lip-syncing during their performance ‘Girl You Know It’s True’. Back then it was a huge issue, and Milli Vanilli was pretty much finished,” Twitter user @sphynxbtc wrote.

“Today, it doesn’t seem to be as big of a deal, and many of us just assume it’s a given that singers aren’t actually singing every single word in their live performances. I think in some cases it’s understandable for them to get a little audio assistance,” Sphynx wrote, Newsweek reports.

“It doesn’t surprise me that you weird little kids have Milli Vanilli trending bc of Cardi B. You clearly aren’t old enough to know that the issue with MV was that they weren’t singing on their song at all,” one defender wrote.

“She’s beautiful, she’s charisma…her fans forgive her,” one fan wrote.
